Elf on the Shelf - A Christmas Tradition

Elf on the Shelf - A Christmas Tradition

Santa's workforce is now fully deployed and he tells us that he has no plans to recruit anymore staff this year. He has added that he will look to expand his workforce next year.

In reality we are now sold out and the publishers are not sending anymore to the UK this year. Please revisit our site in September 2012 to sub-contract your elf for 2012.

This charming tradition began in the United States. Like most children through the ages, a family there wanted to know how Santa really knew who was naughty or who was nice. The answer came in the form of a small pixie-elf.

The first time the elf arrives in your home, the children can officially adopt him by giving him a name. Each year he will then arrive around the 1st of December. His sole responsibility is to watch the children's behaviour and report it to Santa each night. The next morning after the children awake, they will discover the elf has returned from the North Pole and is now resting in a new and different place. Mind that the children don't get hurt as they race each other out of bed to try and be the first to spy him in his new position!

Over the years the tradition can be perfected and new rules can be introduced. For example, to better preserve his mystique the children might not be allowed to touch him but talking to him is a different matter all together. Children will share many secrets with the elf, and while he is under strict orders not to talk to them, the elf is under no such orders where grown-ups are concerned.

The tradition may provide added benefits: it may help the children to better control themselves. It may only take is a gentle reminder that "the elf is watching," for errant behaviour to be modified.

You'll never believe this simple tradition will lead to so many treasured Christmas memories for your entire family. It is our earnest desire that The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition will bring as much joy to your family as you hope.

Enjoy this tradition, and please MAKE IT YOUR OWN!

With our best wishes, for Christmas, for you and those you love.
